We came up with success criteria for problem solving as a division. I use the list to help me write feedback for the students.
Problem Solving
Success Criteria
- I continue to read over the question until I understand what I am being asked.
- I identify and organize the information in the problem to create a plan (i.e. chart, organizer, highlight, etc.).
- I can choose an effective strategy to help me find a solution (i.e. draw a diagram, work backwards, trial and error, etc.).
- I am not afraid to try again if my plan/strategy doesn’t seem to be leading to the right solution.
- I have shown all of the steps in my plan, including the strategies I tried and my calculations.
- I am communicating my solution using appropriate math vocabulary and units of measure.
- I reflect on my solution to make sure I have answered all parts of the question. My solution is reasonable and makes sense.
