Next Steps:
Choose your 3 Level C- to B- students.
1. Initial check-in with students, to ensure understanding of the task.
2. Chunk the Success Criteria for these students. Ask them to check in with you after each section, depending on the complexity (chunkability) of the task. Provide students with feedback during the initial stages of their work.
3. Revise Success Criteria to include “How am I going to meet the learning goal?” Be more specific about the strategies they need to use. i.e. “I identify the author’s point of view.” How can the students find this in the text? What clues are they looking for?
4. Instructional Coaches will come in observe and document student thinking (Student Work Study).
